Marley Boy

Got a surprise today in the form of a 9-week-old yellow lab that Gil brought home from work. Seems that one of the nurses bought this little guy for her daughter and wanted to keep it inside, but he was chewing everything in sight, so . . . we now have another dog! The original owners named him "Marley", and we decided to keep the name, mostly since the kids couldn't agree on any other. Needless to say, there was lots of frolicking and happiness in our backyard this afternoon! :) Now I guess I need to stock up on dog-themed paper & embellishments . . .

DOGS WILL CHEW!
Even if Marley will be an outdoor pet, he has to learn boundaries so start NOW! Let him know what he can and cannot chew so you won't find the Hardi-plank siding (cement composite board) missing from your house - oh, that's me. Give him LOTS of exercise. Even though he'll be outdoors and can run and play anytime he wants, its not the same as human interaction and activities to interest him. The game of "fetch" is in his DNA so try to wear him out daily! From my 89 and 93 pound fur babies and me, good luck! A furry pet is the ultimate friend for kids growing up and I hope Marley has found a permanent home with your family. P.S. My dad's yellow lab is named Barley because of his color. Your family may like to adopt that name for your male dog better than Marley and since it rhymes, it won't confuse "Marley Boy" too much!
